The comfortable sofa seat, dim lights and pack full of popcorns is a common sight for movie night at home. But if it is the Saturday night football matches, then you need something extra. There has to be an additional zing to the daily popcorn flavour, flowing cans of beer and surely the hors d’oeuvre that needs to be plated beautifully.

You cannot really have five star meals presented during game night because there is no sitting round the table to have a family dinner. Appetizers need to be bite sized since messy is another word for game night with friends. Just because it is titbits, does not mean they are going to taste awful and be half cooked. It has to have the ideal football night flavour and there needs to be an array of scrumptious football munchie recipes platter.

Lip-smacking entrees

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Roll out the dough in mini sized triangles and brush it with mustard. Put in one hot dog and wrap it around to make a tight pack. Arrange on a baking tray, brush with egg wash and sprinkle the poppy seeds. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, mustard powder and sour cream to create the perfect dipping sauce. If you need something tangy along with it, create a fresh salad with a beautiful lemon, honey, mint and olive oil dressing.

Classic chicken sandwich – It is light, more than an appetizer and definitely super easy to prepare.


  • Chicken breasts
  • Sandwich loaf
  • Tomatoes and peppers

  • Cucumber pickle
  • Chorizo
  • Butter or Dijon mustard


Coat the chicken breast in egg wash and panko crumbs. Shallow fry the breasts until it is crisp and golden on the outside and juicy and white on the inside. Smear the loaf with butter or mustard as you like. Create a layer of tomatoes, peppers, onion jam, pickle and chicken breast and top it with sliced and lightly fried chorizo. Cover it with another loaf and enjoy it with a fresh Caesar salad.

Frozen mango yogurt – You need a simple desert to clean the palate and to round up the Saturday night match.


  • Mangoes
  • Yogurt
  • Lime

Blend the mangoes in a food processor. Mix the smooth pulp with the chilled yogurt and lime juice. Add castor sugar for taste. Place it in containers and freeze it overnight. Your fresh and frozen mango yogurt is ready. Top it up with basil leaves for the extra glamour.
